Now It Really Feels Like Winter!

It's mid December and a spell of bittterly cold winter weather has arrived with a vengeance! The weather lady informed me that an area of high pressure had moved from the Arctic and settled over Great Britain. Well, thanks for that! At least now I know why I keep shivering! The snow arrived two days ago - a heavy fall that covered the town and the surrounding countryside in white. It was quite a surprise when I drew back the bedroom curtain, even though it had been forecast. Everywhere seemed so quiet. After breakfast, my wife and I got wrapped up (complete with ridiculous woolly hats) and went out for a winter walk. It was SO good but after an hour out in the cold I was glad to get home for a hot drink. It would be really nice if we could have a white Christmas this year but I suspect the snow may have disappeared by December 25th.

I LOVE writing about winter! I've written several short stories set in winter and also a children's book called On Thin Ice. If you click on the link below you can either read or hear me reading one of my winter poems, which you can also find on the wonderful Dirigible Balloon website. The poem is called A Winter Morning.
